Bipartisanship
For over 150 years, Democrats and Republicans have been at odds over many issues, only occasionally working together for the good of the people. But the issues that loyalists of both parties squabble over are all either federal issues or state issues. At the county level, elected representatives need to leave their partisan hats at home and work with each other to solve problems together. Wells running dry and roads needing repair aren’t Democrat issues or Republican issues. When it comes to water, roads and just generally making our county a better place to live and a great place to raise a family, we need to stop being Democrats and Republicans and just hold fast to the fact that we’re all neighbors!
Likewise, our county’s elected representatives need to be willing to work with state and federal elected officials for the betterment of our county, regardless of political affiliation. As your county commissioner, I’m committed to working with Representatives Lord (R) and Gonzales (D), Senators Stefanics (D) and Thornton (R), Congresswoman Stansbury (D) and officials of whichever party is in control in Santa Fe, bringing them all together if necessary, to work together to solve Torrance County’s problems.
