Meet Bill

Bill Peifer is a New Mexican by choice, not by birth. He was born in Wyoming and raised mostly on the East Coast. After serving a few years in the Army during the Vietnam War, and then returning to college, Bill took a job with General Electric’s Space Systems Division in Pennsylvania, first as a spacecraft assembly Scheduler and eventually as a Master Planner. After becoming “enchanted” with the Land of Enchantment in 1982 while visiting Albuquerque for his wife Millie’s 10th high school reunion, Bill set a goal of being able to return here to raise his family. In 1989, Bill was finally able to achieve that goal by accepting a transfer to a GE contract with the Department of Defense as a Project Manager on Kirtland Air Force Base.

In 1994 he left GE to start his own information technology consulting company, based in Albuquerque, while also teaching multiple college level computer-related courses at several colleges and a university . He retired from both consulting and teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic and moved, with his wife and dog to the “wide open spaces” of Torrance County. Bill believes that his background in technology and project management is “just what the doctor ordered” on the County Commission to help solve Torrance County’s many complex issues.

Now living just outside of Moriarty, Bill and Millie have been married for 47 years and raised five children (one now deceased) and have seven grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
